Medical Assisting
This three-semester (900 hour) program, prepares students for a career as a medical assistant. A medical assistant is a multi-skilled health professional who plays an important role as a member of the health care team in a variety of settings. The medical assistant is responsible to the physician and is educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment.
Students will be placed in externship sites based on classroom performance. Students are encouraged to find their own externship site when possible. Externship sites are not guaranteed.
Upon successful completion of the Medical Assisting course, students will be eligible to take certification exams in the following areas:
- Phlebotomy
- Medical Assisting
- ECG Technician
