EVIT names Bruce Kelly operations manager of 90.7 FM
Valley radio veteran with 35 years of experience joins student-run radio station team
October 12, 2011
Bruce Kelly named Operations Manager for 90.7 FM The Goldmine.
The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) announces the addition of Phoenix radio veteran, Bruce Kelly, to the staff of 90.7 KVIT "The Goldmine" radio as Operations Manager.
He brings more than 35 years of experience and knowledge to EVIT and will play a key role in developing the station’s brand, fundraising, and establishing relationships within the business and non-commercial communities.
Kelly recently returned to Arizona after moving to Washington, D.C. to become one of the original programmers, personalities and architects for the national launch of the revolutionary coast-to-coast entertainment platform XM Satellite Radio.
Prior to heading east in 2000, Kelly spent 25 years on the Valley airwaves as a morning fixture with legendary radio stations such as KZZP, KOY-FM and KKFR.
"Arizona is where our four children were born and the only place I've truly considered home." Kelly says. It’s an honor to participate in another revolutionary radio concept--a station staffed by students and helmed by my longtime friend and collaborator Steve Grosz.
Grosz, Goldmine General Manager and EVIT broadcast instructor shares the same excitement for Kelly joining the team.
"Bruce mentored me as a teenager and I worked with him as Executive Producer throughout our various morning shows. For him to return and assist me with growing the next crop of talent is truly an example of the circle of life" added Grosz.
EVIT radio, 90.7 FM "The Goldmine", will celebrate its first full year on the air in January 2012. The student-run station can be heard across the East Valley, including Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, south Tempe, Queen Creek and Apache Junction, and streams live on the internet at www.907goldmine.com. It is commercial-free and features "Top 40" hit music.
