January updates from EVIT Superintendent Dr. Sally Downey

New EVIT video

We are pleased to share our new promo video with you:  https://youtu.be/MBPObmFF_aw. This video is the result of a team effort that included our Public Relations & Marketing Department (script, coordination and direction), EVIT alum Parker Breu (videography), EVIT Aviation students and program partner Phoenix Drone Pros (aerial footage of our Main and East campuses), EVIT Aviation alum Alex Rodriguez and University of North Dakota flight school (pilot, aviation footage), EVIT Radio/Audio Production and 88.7FM The Pulse (voiceover work), and Ben Patrick Johnson, a Beverly Hills professional voiceover artist who donated his voice to this project. We appreciate everyone’s input, work, and cooperation on this exciting project!

Breakfast with Gov. Ducey

EVIT was pleased to host the 2018 East Valley Breakfast with the Governor on Wednesday, Jan. 10. This event was sponsored by East Valley Partnership and the East Valley Chambers of Commerce Alliance. Our Culinary Arts students and chef instructors were prepared and serving breakfast for Gov. Doug Ducey and his staff. As always, EVIT appreciates Gov. Ducey’s recognition of and support for quality career and technical education.

Subaru University

EVIT’s Automotive Technologies program has been selected to participate in Subaru University. Through this program, Subaru partners with high performing automotive programs that are NATEF/AYES accredited to provide entry-level training required of Subaru technicians. The additional training is free to EVIT students.

More Automotive news

We are exploring the possibility of expanding our Diesel/Heavy Equipment program to include big rig driver training. We currently have 256 students enrolled in our Automotive, Diesel, Collision Repair and Classic Auto Restoration programs. And recently, officials with NATEF/AYES said EVIT continues to place more high school students in jobs than any other high school automotive program in the nation. With the addition of Subaru University and truck driver training, EVIT will be able to increase opportunities for students – and provide more workforce for Arizona’s automotive industry.

EVIT Expo

The annual EVIT Expo will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Dr. A. Keith Crandell (Main) Campus in Mesa. All programs will be open that day for prospective students and their parents to visit. Instructors from the East Campus will also be at the Main Campus with exhibits for students and parents to explore. There will also be games, food, entertainment by School of Rock, and campus trolley tours. Admission to EVIT Expo is free.
