Nursing Assistant

A Nursing Assistant works under the daily supervision of a nurse to provide daily basic care for patients.
Advanced classroom instruction includes an emphasis on CPR, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, vital signs, hygiene, human reproduction and basic nutrition.
Clinical internships are available at local medical facilities.
Certification: Upon completion, students are prepared to take the state Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam. However, most medical facilities require job applicants to be 18 years of age.

Length: 2 Semesters
Recommended: 2.5 GPA, Seniors only (or Juniors who have taken MC10), satisfactory completion of Anatomy and Physiology for Medical Careers (MC10) or equivalent academic course, Biology
Additional Requirements: No criminal record, flexible hours and transportation to and from clinical site, proof of immunization or evidence of immunity to certain communicable illnesses

Average Entry Level Salary: $11- $12 per hour
