Harleyann Fones

Harleyann, 17, attends Queen Creek High School and is enrolled in the Nursing Assistant program at EVIT’s East Campus.

Q:  Why did you decide to enroll at EVIT?

A:  I wanted to get a jump-start on my career ... and I thought, “Why spend money on it when I can get it (at EVIT) free?”

Q:  What’s your ultimate goal?

I want to get a BSN in nursing and be a registered nurse in an ER. I’m going to go to CAC (Central Arizona College) and then transfer to Grand Canyon University.

Q:  What do you like about EVIT?

A:  The environment. It’s smaller at the East Campus and we’re really close-knit. It’s not like my high school. Everyone wants to be here.

Q:  What do you do in your spare time when you’re not in school?

I teach kids to swim at Aqua Tots.

Q:  Tell me about your family. Do you have siblings?

A:  I have three younger brothers. The 13-year-old wants to go to EVIT’s EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) program.

EVIT is the real prep school for students with a passion – such as radio, hair styling, cars, fashion, welding, health – and the focus and drive to turn that passion into a career. We learn with purpose and through practice. We imagine, create, and trouble-shoot. We are the builders, the artists, the caregivers, the engineers, the protectors.

We are EVIT.

It is the policy of the East Valley Institute of Technology District #401 to provide all persons with equal employment and education opportunities regardless of race, color, sex, national origin, marital status, age or disability. District grievance procedures will be followed for compliance with Title IX and Section 504 requirements. The compliance officer is the EVIT Superintendent.
