EVIT Culinary students win scholarship in Teen Cook-Off at Scottsdale Culinary Festival

Congratulations to EVIT Culinary Arts students Alejandra Gutierrez and Shae Wolff for winning the Teen Cook-Off at the Scottsdale Culinary Festival on April 15.Congratulations to EVIT Culinary Arts students Alejandra Gutierrez and Shae Wolff for winning the Teen Cook-Off at the Scottsdale Culinary Festival on April 15.

They won a $5000 scholarship that will be split at $2500 for each student to use for post-secondary culinary training. They won one of the two preliminary rounds of the contest on Saturday and competed in the final round on Sunday.

Celebrity judge Chef Anthony Serrano said in a post on Facebook, "It was an honor to judge and be inspired by all the talented teens that completed."

Both students also won a "golden ticket" to the World Food Championships in Alabama in the fall for a chance to win $100,000. They will compete against other young chefs from across the country. 

Alejandra is a senior at Scottsdale's Desert Mountain High School. Shae is a senior at Higley's Williamsfield High School.
