September updates from EVIT Superintendent's Office
We could not be more proud of two EVIT alumni who competed on the SkillsUSA team at the WorldSkills competition in August in Kazan, Russia. Mawadda Abuhamda and Jason McGee represented the United States in the Cyber Security competition. While they didn’t medal, they did have the incredible experience of representing their country in this Olympics-like event celebrating skilled trades from around the world. Check out this short video from the opening ceremony: https://worldskills2019.com/en/media/video/#main-video-6 Congrats, Mawadda and Jason!

EVIT Counselor Luncheon
Changing lives together
EVIT counselors and administration are looking forward to hosting counselors from each of our 11 sending school districts and some charter schools as well this week for our annual Counselors Luncheon. This is a great time for high school counselors and EVIT counselors to meet and discuss how they can work together to ensure all East Valley students have access to career and technical education. We are especially pleased that every CTE director or their representative will be in attendance. There is no limit to what we can do when we all work together.

AMR Ambulance donates ambulance to EVIT EMT programThank you, AMR Central Arizona
The Emergency Medical Technician program at EVIT Main Campus recently received two ambulances from AMR Central Arizona. The ambulances will be part of training that allows EMT students to practice treating patients in a simulated environment. We are grateful to AMR Central Arizona and our many industry partners for donating equipment, time and expertise to our CTE programs at EVIT. The involvement of industry is so vital to ensuring students receive quality CTE that is up to current industry standards.

Visit to Chandler High SchoolSpotlight on satellites
We recently visited the satellite CTE programs at Chandler High School, where we saw an impressive engineering program, FFA tower gardens and chickens, welding and automotive facilities, and also the studio for Chandler Unified School District’s Chandler EdTV99. Our tour guides, Assistant Principal J.J. Chandler, Assistant CTE Director Lindsay Duran, and Director of Community Relations Terry Locke did a great job. Chandler High was the first stop on Dr. Wilson’s “Changing Lives” tour. Later this month, we’ll be visiting Westwood High School in Mesa Public Schools. Photos from our tours are being posted on the new EVIT CTED Facebook page -- https://www.facebook.com/EVITCTED/

#EVITFriends - Connecting with student throughout the Phoenix East Valley.#EVITFriends
One of the cool things about being a student at EVIT central campuses are the friendships you make with students from all over the East Valley. This year, we’re celebrating those friendships in a photo story on Instagram. Check it out: https://www.instagram.com/evitnews/. Your EVIT friends will be there for you!
